Hey guys I have a 1990 2.9l Manual 4x4 Ranger and I have been having shaking issues at certain speeds.
It shakes a little bit getting up to shift into 2nd from first but it's not bad.
But when I get to about 25mph to 30 ish mph it shake a horrible amount. In both 2nd and 3rd gear it does this at those speeds.
I have not done anything to it and it's completely stock but I'm not sure where to replace parts to help it not shake.
Please help!
Thanks

It also shakes slightly at about 45 miles an hour in both 4th and fifth gear.

Does it seem to shake at...

Wheel speed?

Engine speed?

About 4x wheel speed?

my Gm was similar, at 55 or 70 it was fine, any other speed and it was noticeable to severe... turns out bent wheels (both the front wheels were bent... hit a hell of a big blind pothole full of water and didn't realize the wheel took it so bad)
as uncle gump asked...
is it specific to engine RPM, no matter the gear or ground speed is it always shaking at 3300 rpm OR (probably engine)
specific to ground speed, no matter the gear, rpm or even out of gear coasting, it shakes at 45 mph (probably drivetrain/wheels)
and so on and so on...

I forgot to add that it only shakes when I apply throttle. It doesn't when coasting in a year or in neutral. It's all over and very small and sporadic in 1st applying throttle, hardly at all in 2nd until I hit about 24 to 25mph applying throttle, then in 3rd it shakes horribly at 25 to 30 ish mph applying throttle, 35 to 45 in 4th is very little but only in spurts, and it shakes a slight amount from 45 to 50 in both 4th and fifth applying throttle.
I hope that makes some sense.
I'm not sure if it's the drive components or the bushings or even the motor or transmission mounts.
I'm just trying to see if anyone else has had that same issue or to get advice to pin point the issue.

Have you looked at your motor mounts to see if the passenger one is busted and the engine is just banging away laying metal on metal?

Take a look at U-joints too. The description here is giving me bad u-joint vibes. Specifically the under acceleration part.

I'm going to agree it's driveline...

Perhaps even the dreaded two piece driveshaft carrier bearing.

That screams U joint to me.

My ranger did something similar and i found the front u joint at the trans yoke totally smoked.

I found out that the u joint off the t case was super loose so I'm going to order a new one and see if that fixes it. Everything else seemed fine except for that.
Thank you guys for your help!

Get going down the highway at a descent speed and then put it in neutral and coast for a bit checking for vibrations. This could help eleminate tires. Check U joints, motor mounts.
