So how bad is trashed? I could not find one for my 2002 Ranger either but my Denver car upholstery shop did an amazing rebuild.

If you are not too far away, ask Tullahoma Seat Cover in Tullahoma, TN (931.455.0378) about a rebuild. Those guys did wonders for my 1975 Ranchero.

First and second generation Explorers have buckets that will fit, you have to keep your original seat tracks though, might have to tap some of the holes to bolt them up but the holes should be there.

I think pretty much any Ford seat will fit, but you have to use the Ranger tracks. So, I vote for either Taurus seats (with the flip/fold center console), or captains chairs out of an Aerostar. I've done time in both of those seats, they're both comfy.

Standard cab stay lowback or thin highback.

Buckets like explorer hit the back window, I recommend staying with shopping out if standard cab Rangers and trying before buying.

If you are short you can get away with less room, I am 6'-3" and found explorer buckets very uncomfortable. Eddie Bauer BII buckets were a little better but not much.

Yeah, my '90 has been running first gen Explorer seats with the adjustable thing under the knees for years, but the drivers seat doesn't move unless it has to because I like where it is... I found the happy point between being jammed against the window and being all the way back... and I'm 5' 11". my friend that is 6' 4" drove a few months ago and his knees were up in the steering wheel...

Yeah, thanks to the egress procedure with the Explorer buckets I broke the key release button off with my kneecap... that was a whole new level of fun. And that was far back as they would go.

Second gen is on top of the steering column, and I think the lower dash is a little further forward... I imagine that would hurt, probably not quite as bad as what I did a couple hours ago with a trailer ramp right on my big toe... I don't think it's broken but it don't feel spiffy :)

My tract is missing springs on the driver side and i cant move the seat back and forth. Think it would be easier to reupholster the old one if i could find the springs. If i cant ill switch out.

LMC Truck has some parts I think, for a recover they have some but https://www.stockinteriors.com/items.asp?ModelId=216&MainCatId=8 has the most stock looking options.

Depends on what you want. :dntknw:

My FIL is giving me the 70k mile split bench out of his '91, the seatbacks are shaped better than the Explorer. I look forward to trying them, they look like these and are comfortable with in his standard cab.
