So I know this has been a popular topic and we've already got threads dedicated to this, but I think we need to start up another, as the other threads seem to have gotten lost in the mix. Let's try and get a list of bolt in seats for different generations of rangers, such as what bolts into gen 1, gen 2, etc. I'm looking to get something a little more comfortable, but without spending too much on them.

First I have read the info in the tech library. My question is will 2005 or newer bench seat bolt in an '88?

Take some measurements from an '05 and your '88 and cross check them. It couldn't be too different I wouldn't think. If it's only off by a bit just make a custom bit to make it fit.

You can probably swap the old seat brackets on to the new seat

Check under your ’88 seat and see if the tracks bolt on, if so then there is a good chance you can bolt in the 05 seats.

Ok...I have installed a 60/40 bench from a 2000 Ford Ranger extended cab into my 1997 regular cab. I had to swap the seat tracks from my original seats onto the 2000 seats. The 2000 seats had all the holes in them already to bolt up to my 1997 tracks, they just weren't threaded yet.

Tonight I just installed a set of bucket seats out of a 2004 ranger extended cab into my friends 1994 extended cab. The seat tracks are welded to the 2004 seats so there was no swapping them. It looked awful close to fitting so I did some measuring. Everything lines up perfect, exact same seat tracks. They bolted right in. I had to swap the seat belt receiver from his old seats to the new ones, that was it (and remove the seat belt pretensioners). Also being the 2004 was a 4 door extended cab, the seats do not slide forwards on their own when you release the seat latch.

Maybe, maybe not, probably depends on the difference between bolt patterns, years, eyc. I wonder if I could bolt in some King Ranch seats? That would be BADA$$!:icon_hornsup:

You might have to play around with the seat tracks to get everything to work.

I just want Newer seats in mine. Mainly two seats and a center console. I'm not picky what it comes out of, but i really have no idea what works with my 86. I have the 60-40 split. So everyone says I could put anything in there. But I do t know exactly what 'anything' consists of. And really not looking to do alot of fab work. Just a simple straight forward swap
