I didn't ask for your life story, just answer the question!
What is a ball diff? Really don't want to google that term...
It’s a differential that uses a bunch of little balls and pressure plates to make an adjustable limited slip diff. Google “RC ball diff”.

I understand now. At least basically. It makes sense for RC. I bet it'd be a maintenance nightmare on something larger.

Axial sent a new motor Thursday, I got it Saturday.

As explained to me... this is the part that is bad.

Had to compare both drivetrains, probably should have upgraded driveshafts while I was there...

Just had to remove the battery tray (four screws) and the motor/trans (three screws)

I did smear a little grease on the gears with a toothpick since they are metal. I also had to cut the corner off the battery tray to fit the motor (typical engine swap shenanigans)

It is a little louder, dunno if its the bigger motor, metal geared transmission or both. Probably both, sounds like it moves with a purpose. Not horrible.

Looking around for a sutible obstacle. Everybody has heard of "Lion's Back" for 1:1 trucks...

So we went up "Dog's Back" instead.

Anyway, its good to have it back in action.

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.

A dog that puts up with that shenanigans is an awesome dog.
