Some break barrels use a separate tank. I've seen ones with a bolt action that are the same way. Though the bolt action style I've seen have been bigger calibers like .30, .45, and .50.

Drug out my ruger impact .22 after dinner and shot until it was too dark to see my sticker lol.

I wish I could say I was aiming for the small sticker... but no.. she shoots right. This was 20ish yards.

I know it won't be terribly accurate until it doesn't diesel anymore... but damn... I turned the windage knob probably 10 clicks and it doesn't seem to want to come left all that much.

Only the second time I shot this thing. Bought it at Mardens (local surplus&salvage place) as an impulse purchase 5 or 6 years ago.. snagged it for 75-80$ iirc. Don't know where it's scope went took it off once I realized that the scope was going to be useless for 400ish shots lol now I don't hold any hope of finding it. Bah.

It's decent. I don't like how much plastic it has on it and what they used the plastic for (sights, safety, "suppressor")... but the price was right.

Advertised as 1000fps (if you use the super light aluminum pellets) but with the 1.1g lead super-points I have will do between 675-680.

10 clicks isn't jack on the windage screw, thems rookie numbers, for 6" off you gotta up those numbers

Stock scopes on the cheap springers aren't known for their quality anyway...

If it takes a lot of adjustment on the sights a lot of people stick the barrel in the crook of a tree and bend it a little at a time to adjust them... as close to the breech block as possible then pull sideways on the stock (or pull the action out of the stock, it's only like 3 screws most likely). The barrels are just mild steel so no biggie, it's pretty common for the barrel to slip out of peoples hands when cocking and slam up then bend a bunch up...

Right on, the 10 clicks made a good difference on the sight itself.. but obviously just not enough.

When I get home I'll give er another 10 clicks right off the whack and see what that does.

What's this? Back when I was looking at these a lot I got this pic of the net but didn't rename it now I don't know wtf it is. Edit: Must be airforce I think. I like looks of Umarex Hammer better and it gets good reviews (the Hammer). Anyon have one of those?

Another question. Let's say an air gun has the same ft lbs as some centerfire cartridge - you can find ones this is true. Wouldn't they then have the same 'kick' or recoil, since the same ft lbs are being delivered?

Airgun Depot 'has' the Benjamin Maximus Hunter but it's out of stock - like about half of everything else these days. https://www.airgundepot.com/benjamin-maximus-hunter-22-cal.html

Looks like a nice one and a lot cheaper than, say, the Umarex Hammer. Of course they are totally different, but it's cheap for a PCP, from what I've seen. How's the accuracy on it?

Edit: Seems like having the option to hand pump for PCP is a rarity, no? Looks like Marauder doesn't have that feature. Seems like it would be really convenient unless I'm misunderstanding something.

Gonna have to get another tin of pellets and find a scope for this thing. Really don't want to spend too much on a scope... but don't want to always be re-zeroing.

The "Center-Point" scopes are made by Crosman at a low price point and are supposed to be rated well last I heard, not super great but good enough... pretty much everyone's go to is the UTG Bug Buster scopes but they are above my pay grade for as many toys as I have...

The maximus is fine accuracy wise, I don't shoot targets unless they are feathered or fuzzy mostly or just screwing around... I get bored shooting paper too easy...

Pretty much every PCP is hand pump friendly, it's just how much effort you want to put into it, my first PCP was the .22 Marauder that was "refurbished" with a refurbished Benjamin hand pump, took a bit to pump up but was doable, that's part of why I got it tuned to where it ended up, 60 shots at like 850fps with crosman hollow point pellets. The maximus being a 2000psi fill pressure with a lower volume is obviously easier to pump up... the Avenger is like 4300psi fill pressure and I've hand pumped that a few times...

I have no idea on the recoil part, but my engineering mind says it'll likely be similar if the muzzle energy is similar with the whole equal and opposite force deal

Ah, ok. I was interpreting it that the pump was part of the gun, but I'm gathering I was wrong there (?).
Yeah it seems like it doesn't it, on the recoil? Of course the weight of the gun has to be taken into account as part of the recoil is simply moving that weight.
Just thinking back many years to a Springfield .30-06 I had and it wasn't pleasant to shoot. Compared to, say, .22-250 which has a bit of recoil but you don't end up with a sore shoulder.
Some of the, for instance, .50 caliber air guns pack quite a wallop like 800 ft lbs which is not inconsiderable so it just seemed like they'd have to have some kick but I could be missing something.
Energy is always a bit surprising since weight of the bullet/pellet is only proportional to energy but the velocity is squared, that's what makes the huge difference.
