Fun relatively cheap 22 lr Erma-Werke M1. Perfect for plinking. Feelings won’t get hurt if it takes a drop or spill.

I have a Marlin 795 that I really like. It's very accurate and dependable, but there are not many upgrades out there for it. Very similar to the model 60, and you can get a heavy barrel variant too (model 7000.)

I have a couple 10/22s as well, they're fun.

My all time favorite was my dad's Savage 63.

I love my 10/22. It's mid-80s vintage. My gripe about the newer ones is they have a plastic trigger group.

After the Ruger buyout of Marlin the future of the Marlin 22's is sadly in question.

I would love a 39A...

My credo
Its probably better to be self deprecating than self defecating.
Tried buying one lately?

At least in my area there are none. No store has one, no warehouse has one, no distributor can get one within 100 miles of me.
I have not.. but I believe it. Crazy times. Went on cheaper than dirt to see how much a box of .45acp is nowadays.... holy crap.

Yeah, we'll see, maybe they'll keep both brands alive and improve both for the better. I'd love a 10/22 with a Marlin micro groove barrel... or a Marlin with more aftermarket support and better magazines. Newer Marlins have had a distinct "cheap" feeling... not quite as bad as Savage and Mossberg, but cheap nonetheless.

I actually prefer the feel of my Mossberg to a newer Marlin...

Which Mossberg do you have? I looked at the Plinkster when I was in the market for a basic semi auto small game rifle... I thought the 795 was far and above better quality. Add a wood stock like on the model 60's and they start to look real solid.

702 Plinkster. It is an older one, I got it used around 2007. Synthetic stock with a silver barrel.

I really wanted a new Savage Mark II at the time but then I found this on the used rack for $80 at Cabela's and I couldn't pass it up. They had a 4-5 of them and they were all lightly used and identical, I wondered if they were surplus from a shooting class or something (but usually they don't use semi autos for classes :icon_confused:)

It is probably my most used gun, the thing just works and hits what I point it at.

The Marlin was never on my radar from what I can remember because of the tube mag. Basically it was Savage's game to loose and they lost it on a gamble over price ($300 vs $80)
