I replaced the light fixtures in my garage with outlets, then I can just plug in what I need. And the plug in 4' LED lights have pullcord switches so I can kill them individually if needed.Too much light is almost never a problem, not enough light is always a problem. If you think 4 lights is enough... install 6 or even 8 of them. Make 2 banks on different circuits. If 8 is too much for what you’re working on, you can always shut half of them off.
Working on your back under something that doesn't block much light (like a tractor or motorcycle or something like that) you can get too much light fairly easy.
