Wow. That rear frame repair around the shackle is terrible. Not sure what to think about those vertical cuts by the fuel filler hose. I would really want to clean that up and do a LOT of patching and reinforcing before driving that. Looks like someone went to town on it with a flux core 110v welder and had no idea what they were doing.

Fair price in my mind for that mess is whatever you can part it out for... or less if you just want the whole thing gone. Most people local to you will have the same problem finding a good frame... it's a basket case to anyone outside of the rust belt.

Selling that truck is going to either sell whole for a parts truck, ie scrap price. $5-600

Or sell all the parts individually, get more money this way, but a lot of work on your end and much more time consuming.

When you say eastern Pa... How east. Those two guys are probably as east as you get before you hit the river, both about an hour from Allentown, maybe less.

Wow, finally a truck worse then my beat 1985 B2 !

Is that a leg for a bed frame (white cap) in the picture of your hacked frame and leaf springs?

After looking at your pictures a few times, I do not think the frame is worth repairing since you can buy a rust free southern truck for less then $4000 in Atlanta. Problem is they re 2x4s. I would swap bodies.

if it had the riveted on rear frame i would probably have fixed it but since its one piece it will be keeping the other junk yard rangers company unless someone buys it for the 4x4, engine and transmission for more than scrap. it was a learning experience for sure. i have decided to just drop this project and save up for a truck around 10k in much better condition.

My credo
I didn't ask for your life story, just answer the question!
I’d like to retract the previous statement now that I’ve seen the frame... that’s not worth fixing unless you have some kind of sentimental attachment to it.

Rampage, if you check this thread again, lemme know if you are IN Clearfield, or if it's just the truck that was from there. I have folks there, and still hunt deer up there.

Thanks for sharing. You raise a very important concern. A lot of us sit on the very same fence. We love our Rangers and hate to give them up.

A friend of mine owns a rusty Ranger. He's invested a lot of time and money. I asked him once about the rust. "Largely cosmetic," was his reply. The sad truth is that rust is "largely cosmetic" until it's not, until everything becomes rust. Rust never sleeps.

I'm hoping to address frame issues this summer. Mine's still worth keeping but needs some TLC. Some may think I'm crazy for doing this, but then again, it's my truck.
