My credo
Its probably better to be self deprecating than self defecating.
The rough ride is coming from having 2" less down travel in the suspension.

Suspensions (obviously) are designed to sit at a height that will allow plenty of compression for bumps.. and plenty of extension for dips/potholes.

Rangers don't have a ton of travel to begin with up front.. mabey 6" or so. Truck sitting on the ground probably makes it sit at about 50%ish through its travel.. so 3" extention left, and 3" of compression.

By putting that 2" lift in, you've decreased its potential extension to around an inch, the rough ride is the feeling of the trucks suspension constantly topping out.

It's good if you wanna jump the thing I guess... but not good for them dips and potholes.

Understood. I'll have to reread a minute or two to grasp it but I appreciate your help. I did have intentions to place a heavier duty bumper that may apply some weight down.

Your ride won't be back to factory quality until the factory springs are put back in, or you have enough weight on the front end to squish the lift springs to the point they no longer lift the truck.

Best way to lift a 2wd is with lift spindles.

After a brief inspection this is what I found.
That's the bottom of the shock? Looks like it's too long and bottomed out. I wonder how it would ride without the shocks in place. Of course it will be bouncy, but I wonder if you could tell if the ride was softer? That might confirm the shocks were running out of travel and that is what hammered that mounting bolt.

Oof yeah not what I expected. Shock definitely looks like it's too long, and limiting uptravel.

Hopefully that stud can be straightened out.

I popped the bottom off and it fully extended. The shock description said for 1 - 3in lifts and the coil was a 2in. So smooth brain answer thought it would work with this.

That's full extension. The other side isn't busted up but definitely fraying out like it will eventually bust like the other side.

Do you have the old shocks kicking around somewhere?

Negative. Had the old ones chunked. About to get some Ranchos ordered. About to figure out the bolt situation. Seems like the top may be welded to the LCAs.

Measure what you have now, from eye to eye. Collapsed and extended. Itll give you something to reference when looking for one's that'll work
