Rough idle, IAC valve?

I removed the IAC valve and it looked clean but I cleaned it anyway and no change, still a shaky
I guess there is no vacuum leak looking at short and long term fuel trims. Fuel % drops a couple when revving the engine to 2500rpm and it would be over 10% if there was a leak right?

I did find a transmission fault 1707-6f? I’ll have to start a new thread to ask what this is about. Plenty of internet posts on a p1707 code but none I can find on p1707-6f

New sparkplugs this weekend, what a nightmare haha. At least the rear passenger side😩

The plugs looked fine though one of them was autolite and the rest Motorcraft. I replaced all with Motorcraft copper plugs. No difference in idle or anything that I can tell but at least I know they are new and I don't need to do that again for a while!

Did you ever look at the IAC? Sometimes you can get away with just cleaning it with some carb cleaner and restore it back to proper operation.

Yeah I did take mine off and it looked great but I still cleaned it with spray and q tips to get anything hiding in it.

Here's the old plugs and they look like they were replaced recently. Funny how they used 1 Autolite. That's what you get when you pay a "pro" to work on your car😁

These look fine though right? I'm not an expert reading plugs but nothing jumps out at me

Is it normal for the truck to only Rev to 3k rpm when you stomp on the gas? I've seen test drive videos and their truck revved to 4000rpm without breaking a sweat? It might have been the Ranger with a 3.0 though...

Is this while driving or while sitting still in park or neutral? Some engines are rev limited when not in gear

While driving, say I'm cruising at 2k rpm and step on it to the floor it will I think drop a gear and the revs go to only 3k but if I hold it to the floor they will slowly make it to about 3750. This may be normal I don't know but my Ford Edge w/ the 3.5l passes 4k just merging onto the interstate lol. That car does allegedly make 300hp though.

Many of these "issues" I think I have may be normal Ranger behavior and that isn't lost on me.

I will say that the truck did seem to pick up a smidge more power and the idle smoothed out a little as well after the new plugs.

What about if you put it in a lower gear on the shifter to keep it from going any higher in gear? The transmission may be what is keeping you from getting to high in rpm no matter how much you keep the gas pedal to the floor.

I think I've found my issue. I was telling a friend about it and he suggested that I adjust my gas pedal because maybe it wasn't high enough to allow full throttle before it hits the floor. And then after some searching I have found that I have a stretched throttle cable that I guess is common on the Ranger. There is lots of slack when messing with the cable at the throttle body. Going to use some zip ties on it tonight and that should help!

Is there a better way to take up the slack in the throttle cable or is this the accepted method? I could fit another zip tie on there but then it would be guitar string tight. I'll see if this helps any, def. more travel in my pedal now so it should.

Also strange that my pedal does not line up with where the cable comes through from the engine bay?
