So I’ve got an old 85 BII with the 2.8 V6. I bought a short block off the interwebs that was “rebuilt”. Looked good, I had a good set of heads so I assembled it all and she runs well. A little ticky under load but I expect some with solid lifters. My issue is the baffles that go under the rocker arm shaft stands will not fit. The stand bases look different shaped than any I can find pictures of. As if they have been replaced with a different type. I’ve looked around for an example of one elsewhere but I’m guessing they are as rare as virgins. Anybody got a picture I can compare. I can’t see any reason not to just leave the baffles out. Been driving it all summer without them. Any thoughts on that? Thanks.

Yes that looks like them. Can I get a pic of the base? Maybe I’m confused about what the baffles are. I picture it a a plate that goes under the stands between them and the bases. When I disassembled the heads there where none on it but my manual calls for a baffle. The parts I got with the short block had what looks like baffles and I assumed that’s what the are. Thanks.

Here is some pictures of what I have. The base of the stands is larger and shaped different than the pedestals on the heads. The odd shape of the bases prevent the baffle from lining up with the bolts.

Here you go.
Thank you. My bases are not even close to that. I have another running 2.8 but don’t want to rob Peter to pay Paul. I’ll look for another set of stands. You’ve been a big help. 👍🏼

Something else to think about while you’re working on the shafts. They’re hollow with a plug in each end. You drill a hoke in one, use a metal rod to knock out the opposite side, then tap the one with the hole in it from the now open side. If you don’t know the history, they could be plugged with blech.

These are the plugs:

Thanks. I take em. Do you PayPal?
The assemblies are clean and seem in nice shape. I’ll defiantly give them a good going over before I re install.
