Owners manual says to replace the frame mounted fuel filter at 40,000 mi. Dealership said it does not have one. They printed from the Ford website the maintenance intervals. There is no mention of fuel filters. Is the manual wrong?

Looking at the online copy of the owners manual, I see it does say that.

I also see that it says
Once a Month "Fuel and water separator. Drain if necessary "
At every Oil Change "Fuel and water separator. Drain if necessary "

I myself have never seen a "Fuel and water separator. " on a gasoline engine.

So my guess is the Maintenance section is copied from the "International Ranger" that also has diesel fuel.

EDIT: Rock Auto doesn't show a fuel filter for your truck

Resolved...everywhere I look says the only filter is in the tank. Its a misprint in the manual. Gag engine.

Yep. Might kind of them to do that, isn't it? And apparently, the only way to replace it, at this point, is to replace the pump.

Anymore they use a general owner's manual that applies to a broad range of vehicles.
