Hey all! Just went to replace my speakers in the truck, and upon removal of the factory rear speakers, I noticed this interesting wiring decision. Wanted to see if everything was kosher to move forward w the install. I figured there would just be the two wires, but there seems to be an added third. The two loose wires WERE wire nutted together, just fyi. Thoughts?

I think the answer lies at the other end of the blu/wht and wht/clr wires.

Since you're from TN (Go Vols)) I think you can handle this: Were you a hand model in another life?):yahoo:

Toonces drives a Ranger . . . . just not very well.
The black and white wires were added at some point. Unless there's some reason to keep these, disconnect and remove them. Splice the original factory wires, Orange/Red and Green/Orange, back together, or terminate them as needed for your new speakers.

Factory rear speakers are getting hard to find; don't trash your old ones if they can be salvaged.

I'd definitely want to know where the black/white wires go though. Just in case there's anything else going on that needs to be addressed.

Could be blue. Honestly it could go either way depending on where in the photo I look.

Don't worry, I couldn't tell either. So I flipped a coin, and it came up "black".

I'm pretty sure it's white / gold.... But who's to say.

And lol. Not a hand model, but maybe I'll look into it, 2020 been a rough year :p

Thanks for the feedback. I'll take out the head unit I'll see if that black/clear blue/white white/gold cable is lurking there.

Deengineer until it is how Blue Oval should have sold it!!
Kegworth,

Looks like another set of speakers was wired in; I would unwire them and tape it off.
