Hi all, first I'd like to say thanks to the members of this forum for being so helpful! I'm a new Ranger owner and although I'm new to working on cars, I'm planning to do as much maintenance on it as I can.
After reading some horror stories I'm thinking about replacing the camshaft synchronizer in my '07 3.0. It's only got about 75k miles on it, and it's not making any noise, but I did read this article on TRS where Wicked_Sludge recommends replacing at 80K miles. Figure it couldn't hurt, unless I drop something in the hole.
Anyhow, I'd like to hear from anyone who has replaced theirs, to know if you had to disconnect the main wiring harness at all. The two main branches of it are right above the cam synch'r and they don't want to move much.
I'm also thinking I'll replace the PCV valve while at it, and I'm hoping someone can confirm it is this part.
Thanks all.

My credo
From here on down it's uphill all the way!
I have an 05, 3.0 and when I took a look at where it was located I just got out my checkbook. I bought the part at NAPA and had a local mechanic install it. He charged me around $90.
I went to buy a PCV valve and when I told NAPA what I needed they said they would need the VIN. Evidently the book shows three different models. That is on my to do list after the heat gets into the 90s here in Arizona.

My credo
Crossed threads are tight threads.
I did mine on my 4.0 OHV. I had to remove pretty much everything above intake. I also removed the intake to replace the leaking gasket. The AC compressor I left the hoses connected and just swing it over out of the way. The wiring harness, by the time I disconnected plugs and stuff, easily moved out of the way as well. Just mind the routing and where it is secured to things. I took lots of pics to help me get everything back together in order.
