Hey All,

Just discovered my 4 wheel drive is out on my 2002 Ranger. The info here has been great and it looks to be the 4x4CM. My question is the original one is a 1L54-7H417-AD, but the Rockauto website (and a couple of others) show a motocraft TM101 and reference 1L54-7H417-AC. Any issue with going with what looks like a slightly earlier version?

TIA.... Dan

No issue, thats fine to use

2001-2005 modules were the same, yes revision AE was the last one

2006 - 2011 are different

1997 Ranger 4x4 control is different, it used the GEM Module as the 4x4 controller with a dual relay box behind GEM for shift motor control

The 4x4CM was use in 2001-2011 Rangers

It's alive!! Ordered my 4x4CM from Rock Auto on Thursday night, was supposed to arrive Tuesday but it got here today before lunch. A pleasant surprise, the box indicated it was an older rev of the 4x4CM ending in AC, but when I opened it the replacement was an AE - the last revision. Plugged it in, got 4x4 Hi and 4x4 Lo. Success! Total cost was right at $170 with shipping and tax. Thanks to those who posted and replied on earlier threads, you saved me a bunch of $.... and considering my water heater died today it's a big help.
