Yep. I agree .. the one with exposed teeth isnt as good as the one with the flange. In fact its a knuckle buster. Just did the front end rebuild. Just to mention a few things I ran into.
The bearings may not want to come off the spindle. I used a slide hammer to get one off.
If also changing the spindle bearings, you can go to autozone and borrow a bushing puller. Looks like this ...

The spindle bearings were a pain to get out especially on one side for me. When installing I used a socket that fit and lined up with the OD of the race and a ball joint Clamp to push the back in slowly. Remember not to go to far in with the bearing. You want to leave enough space to pull them out again if necessary 20 more years from now.
