Remove stereo with tool or pull off entire radio bezel?

The last time I replaced a Ranger head unit I just used the pin release tool and pulled the head unit out super easy. However most the videos I watch show people removing the entire bezel with the heat vents, cigarette lighter, etc.

I have a OEM double din and plan to replace with a Sony double din HU. Do I need to pull the bezel or can I just use the tool to remove the HU?

Thanks!

I find it easier to just pull the whole bezel.

When the pins work, they work great, when they don't it's a mess.

I just swapped around factory units in a 2003 and 2011, both came out easy with the pins.

The last time I did an aftermarket swap the entire bezel had to come out. I also discovered that most aftermarket head units will require a custom trim bezel (Scoche for example) that the head unit slips into. Usually the very bottom of the OEM bezel will need some trimming to get the aftermarket trim bezel to fasten into the OEM opening. Photo shown is not my truck...
