Tool Recommendations Needed

Lincoln 1142 Grease Gun with a rigid hose. Anyone use this grease gun? Price is right but can the rigid hose be replaced with a flex hose? Think the answer is yes, in any case ordered it will fill ball joints before installing.

2. I've been looking at IR231C Impact 1/2"Driver for $119. It uses 4.2 CFM min hose size is 3/8", 1/4" is recommended. I have a 2 gal., 100 PSI Campbell Compressor and wonder what are the Air Compressor specs required for this impact wrench.
I want the impact wrench for lug nuts, ball joint pressing, and whatever else comes up. I like this model because it has power adjustment and price seems pretty low.
Anyone look at the HOTECH Impact wrench? Looks exactly like the IR231C with similar specs for about $80 from ebay and amazon.

3. What are the electric Impact Driver alternatives?

4. What do I use to remove rust and prevent future rusting on the under carriage? Around Axles, Wheel Drum, Steering Knuckles, transmission etc?

5. Its really hot in texas so what do you use to protect rubber hoses, belts and alike? Thanks You Much

Answers to my questions:

1. Wound up with a cheap AutoTec 3oz grease gun with a rigid nozzle, loaded it with Mobil 1 and it works fine for my needs. Could use a flexible whip, have to find one that fits.
2. Picked up a $59. Electric Corded 200 ft. lb. GreatNeck Impact wrench, no compressor $ and this worked fine removing lug nuts, and pressing out and in ball joints. Didn't trust 18v + extra battery cost not necessary at this time. Harbor Freight's Electric Impact Driver's had poor customer reviews - scared me away.
3. Rust removal went easily with soapless steel wool then sprayed areas with Loctite Neutralizing and sealing spray can $8. + some elbow grease, was all that was, needed.
4. Some mechanic suggested I use a mix of brake fluid and water applied carefully only to belts and hoses to protect & revitalize. Not confident with this suggestion anyone ever do this?

silicone spray on rubber to make it last longer, keep in mind your belt will squeel like a pig when you spray it, as it is a lubricant...

por 15 for rust, paint it overtop of dirty metal with dirt and rust on it, it hardens with mopisture, and actually works worse when it's painted on clean metal

don't bother with an electric impact

google for the rest of it

One of the few HF tools I own is their electric impact (230 ft. lbs). I've had it for over a year, and haven't used my compressed air impact since.

The POR-15 is great stuff. I would also suggest it for rust prevention.

The guy at work love electric impacts because they are easier to take into the field than miles of air hose or the compressor and a generator that would run it.

I have one friend that loves his so much he takes his on vacations in case he has a flat tire... he hasn't yet but he is ready just in case. :icon_thumby:

Dewalts and Snap-Ons... they get more use out of them than the average shadetree guy though.
