Having the module reset should cost $40 - 100 plus shipping. I have done it in the past and it works fine. A simple Google search will return at least a dozen places that do it.

My credo
Its probably better to be self deprecating than self defecating.
Seems like an awful amount of work for the amount of money saved, especially when having to deal with indefinite nationwide backorders on parts, and having (presumably) a salvage title when its all said and done.

I applaud your "go gettem" spirit though. Good luck! I'll definitely be watching.

$20K sounds like a lot for an R title truck, but looking at the MSRP could save like $10-20K even if it takes like 6months to put it together. I've thought about it before, and I think If I was going to get something brand new, I would seriously look into a rebuild one.

I'm pretty sure some states don't mark titles as rebuild depending on the circumstances. So be may be able to get around that.

For those considering rebuilding or buying a rebuilt vehicle, our dealerships discount rebuilt title vehicles by 35 - 50 %. So it has to be a lot cheaper than regular pricing to make sense financially unless 1) you plan to keep it forever, or 2) you cannot make the budget work for regular pricing. There are very few banks that will finance rebuilt title vehicles. And, nearly all insurance companies will not provide full coverage insurance once the vehicle has been totaled that first time, so when you buy a rebuilt vehicle good luck getting anything more than liability coverage.

My credo
If you don't have time to do it right will you have time to do it over?
It's a complicated vehicle with limited or no warranty also. I hope it works out for you.
