Rear Wheel Well Splash Shields

I've noticed on Amazon a set of Boston Buddy Rear Wheel Well Splash Shields, a set of 4 for 1993-2011 Rangers. LMC Truck/Ranger also lists them on page 10 of their catalog.
I don't think these are replacements for oe as I've never seen them on stock Rangers.
Anyone running them on their trucks and/or do you think they do the job?
Seems like a good idea to keep mud/dirt from accumulating under the wheel well bed area.
Just found a Ford part # F37Z9928370A for an individual splash shield, so I guess it is/was installed, but was it factory or an add-on?

factory parts on some, most? models.
they prevent protruding dimples on the tops of steel fenders caused by stones.

Just find it weird that Ford lists it as a factory part, yet was not installed on mine...unless stock XL didn't come with them. Can find the supposed mounting holes on mine, but holes are clean...don't look like the shields were ever there.
Maybe they were stock on the XLT's or the 4x4's, and never installed on the "fleet type XL".
Probably will get a set for mine.

I don't think these mudflaps were oe, but the brackets they bolt to look like oe ford parts. is that what you're talking about @Grumpaw ?

No Ranger, not mud flaps. Pull up LMC Ranger catalog and hit page 10...there shown there. Kind of like a 2 piece shield that arches up the inner wheel well.
Have time on my hands at home due to recovering from surgury, so I'm just playing with Ford and Ranger parts/accessories. Found these listed, both from Ford and aftermarket, and they look like a worthwhile add on.
Guess the plain XL's didn't come with them as standard equipment.
Buddy of mine has a 2006 XLT 4x4...next time I see him/vehicle I'll see if their on his.
Just curious...inquiring minds want to know...

I have them on my 94 XLT styleside and from the factory that way but I can not say what happened in '09 with these. Mine are a 1 piece arch that use those dreaded push clips to hold them on not a 2 piece like you are mentioning.

i wasnt talking about tha flaps, but the mounting hardware. that part# F37Z9928370A had 0 results when i put it in the search bar of the LMC website.

Yeah, that's it. Funny that they sell a complete kit for the earlier Rangers, but the later 93-2011 you have to buy the individual pieces.
Kit from Amazon, from Boston Buddy ia a complete kit with all the hardware included.
From what I've seen, Ford part # do not cross ref. to the LMC part # which leads me to believe most of their parts are aftermarket and not Ford NOS parts. Easy enough to get an overseas company to produce stuff, but I like to buy
as original as I can get. Nice thing about the Boston Buddy stuff is that it's made here in the USA.
Once my shoulder heals enough for me to start playing again, that's the kit I'm going to buy.

Didn't realize those two-piece inner flaps weren't stock on all the rangers (and ford pickups in general). Trouble is, that overlapping design at the top tended to trap mud and leaves and crap, leading to near-inevetable rustout at the tops of the wheel arches...

I've been looking at the holes pictured in the diagram, and the holes on the Ranger where they would mount. It appears that those splash guards mount down from the top of the wheel well "arch". Looks like they protect "stuff" from being flung toward the back or front of the underside of the bed.
Anyway, not worried about any build up...you would not believe the way I clean/detail my vehicles...no build up will ever "build up".

Wanna clean my vehicles? I use "build up" to hide the older dirt and debris.

I'm just lucky. Retired and after I do "honey doo's", she pretty much lets me do what I want. Spend lots of time on 2 Subies, motorhome, and Ranger. Enough time to do a really good job.
If you wanna, bring your truck over...only about a 400 mile run for you.

They do protect from flinging rocks and dirt but in my case even with factory mud flaps the bumper and rear corners of the bed still get hit with crud. It does make it really easy to clean it out though because it doesn't get the full brunt of it all. Just my observation on my truck with them installed.
