I am lookimg to replace the single pane rear slider with a double pane rear slider in my 92 super cab. LMC truck has a double panel slider that comes pre-tinted: https://www.lmctruck.com/1983-11-ford/fr-1983-11-sliding-rear-window[/QUOTE]

Only thing is, they are saying that the super cab model has to be replaced with a urethane adhesive....

Now I have removed the rear window and replaced the seal once and it was the bolt on type.

I am curious - does anyone know if there really is a difference? like If I have the bolt in style I should be able to replace it with a new double slider that is bolt in regardless if the catalog claims that super cabs never came with bolt in style windows? Honestly I am just looking for reassurance on this I guess lol, price is a driving factor:

Urethane Mount Window = $414
Bolt-in style window = $ 219.99

Thanks for any information!

1986 to 2011 Rangers used the same size rear windows, I think 1983 to 1985 as well

All super cabs used bolt in, except maybe "double sliders", below
Regular cabs used gasket from 1983 thru 1997, 1998 and up all used bolt in, regular or super cab
Sliders or solid came in both versions

There were two kinds of sliders, double and single
I have read that the double sliders were all gasket mount up thru 1997, even in super cab
Single sliders were all bolt in
But not 100% confirmed, with Ford there is always an exception to the rule, lol

They did add 2 more bolts/studs in 2006 or so, but easy to drill out 2 extra holes if it comes up
The other studs were in the same place

I have had several pre 98 single cab sliders, both single and double slide. They were all held in with a gasket. That gasket is different than the solid glass gasket though.

I don't know why they are saying that urethane is required. Everything I've seen is bolt in like Ron said. If I were you I would see if there is a junkyard window available... I bet you could get one for a LOT less than $414.

I don't know what they're talking about having to have a shop install it, go the parts store and get a box of butyl rope for under $20, it's all it takes for the bolt in windows...
