I hauled some old railroad ties to the transfer station last weekend. Running across the scales on the way out gives what I call a 'real world' vehicle weight. So, it's a 1998 XL Ranger extended cab, 4x4. With3/4 tank of gas and a driver that is not skinny. Real world weight = 3980 lbs.

Fair enough, my '97 4x2 extended cab 2.3L Ranger over the weigh station with me in it is around 3600lb, the '90 back in the day was like 3200lb when it was a 4x2 with tiny tires, once it was 4x4 with turbo 2.3L, tool box with stuff in it and 35" tires and me in it and stuff was like 3950 last time I did the tractor pull...

i can run over the scales here on base next time i remember to drive around the golf course. they are always open and the screen where the weight shows is nice and bright facing towards the scale so you don't have to get out to walk over and see what it says.

I took a load of shingles to the transfer station by me, as I recall I tipped the scales at 4100 lbs, with a full toolbox in the back, dual battery setup, full tank of gas (2009 FX4)

I will look for the slip from them. I just remember being excited that it only cost me $36 bucks to get rid of 600lbs of shingles. Doing it that way, it cost less for the whole roof project for my shed than it would have cost for a dumpster to be dropped at my house for the shingles and them being disposed of.
