I replaced the trip odometer worm gear, had to pull the speedo needle off to gain access to the gear drive. now the speedo reads fast, about 10 mph. Is there anything I can do to re calibrate it?

It depends on the year of the truck, and maybe type of transmission.
Give us some more vehicle info.

is it a constant 10 mph off at any speed???? if yes then put the needle back on correctly aligned.

On the electric speedo ones the needle needs to be set on there with the key on, or the motor will not be in the zero position and it will put the needle off.

Nope, it will still read 10mph off because the problem isn't the calibration, it is the zero setting of the needle.

yes, that would be true. was just thinking about my tire size and gearing change and how my speed is off, seemed like a funny joke, cause really, who would put 3” smaller tires on?, I just use a old tomtom gps for speed now. works good because my winter & summer tire sets are different sizes. one set im off 6 mph from speedometer, the other set im off 10 mph. If I were to run the stock size im guessing Id be off 15 mph. (@ 55 mph)

Thanks for all the replies everyone! The first mistake I made was not watching the video first, the face doesn't have to come off to replace the odo drive gear. I put a solus on it and the speedo is exactly 10 MPH over the speed sensor pid, so 80 is the new 70. I had to JB weld every clip back on the center stack trim and the cluster bezel, I'm not takin it back apart just to correct it.
