I have a 1986 ford ranger I just bought. The guy I bought it from took his battery out I went and bought a new one and put it in.
I went to start it and nothing no lights no sounds nothing.:annoyed:
I have tried cleaning the battery posts and connections still nothing.
If y'all have any other ideas on what it could be it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Laura

If it did, he probably may have screwed up one of the battery terminals and or cables, you want to check those to make sure they are not loose or broken.

Check your battery connections and make sure you have the battery hooked up right. If you hook it up backwards you can cause all sorts of issues, not to mention it won't start LOL.

How bad does it fry it? I did that on my Bronco 2, lesson learned don't go by the color of the wires. It still runs just as it did before...like shit.

Oh well, I did it on my 88 F-150, made a nice spark, caused everything to make a buzzing and beeping noise, and then fried the cpu so that the starter wouldn't disengage and lots of other fun things...

Can't remember what happened with my Bronco 2 when I hooked up the cables backwards, but after that happened I got new cables that were the right colors so no accidently repeating the last issue LOL. If I remember right I had the door ajar dinger going, but can't remember what else now, and of course a few sparks. The computer in the B2 doesn't really do anything as far as I know as the $40 relay by the computer in the kick panel started going haywire shortly after I bought it, and I yanked it out and has been fine ever sense. I still don't have a clue what the relay did, but I know when it went haywire the truck wouldn't go faster than 30mph.
