My dad and I were browsing the car lot at a Ford dealership and the salesperson mentioned that because I drive a Ranger that we get a rebate called the "Ranger Rebate". I just thought it was kinda funny, and the fact that the lot was completely void of any Rangers old or new.

Tell him to blow it out his @$$. He was going to jack up the price he told you and then pretend to knock something off so you thought you were getting a deal.

Actually the price on the truck (2012 F250 w/6.7) was only $41k, which is the only reason he was entertaining the idea.

A buddy of mine just bought a new 2012 F250 (6.7) early last month fully loaded for $37,900.00 out the door up in Ocala. I guess 41K ain't so bad. Is that before or after the so called 'Ranger' rebate?

That's after I believe. He is thinking about an F150 now because according to the internet he can get a XLT for right around 30k.

Try to get them to 25.

Ecoboost is cool, but they aren't doing much better for gas than the 5.0s.

And all of them have this "hiccup" in high gear at light load mostly going up small hills without increasing throttle. We aren't sure what causes it, we don't have a fix, but it is nothing more than annoying.

Do you mean all the engines or just the 5.0?

All 2011 and up F-150s with 5.0 and Ecoboost 3.5L engines. The 3.7L equipped ones, which are in short supply around here, have not seen any issues with it to my knowledge, but really, who wants a naturally aspirated V-6 in an F-150 size truck?

Not impressed with the EcoBoost at all yet....

We are dealing with a lot of complaints about poor fuel economy and cutting out under high load/throttle applications like passing on the highway.

Stick with the 5.0L or the 6.2L V8's.

I told him to stick with the EcoBoost or 5.0. But you can't beat the sound of that V8.

We have had mixed reports. Every complaint of poor fuel economy we get is accompanied by evidence of heavy towing or a heavy right foot.

We have two guys in the shop who have ecoboost trucks and drive nicely, both report about 20 MPG, and that was on winter mix.

We even had one idiot who threw a fit when we told him we wouldn't put a license plate bracket in the middle of the front bumper because he wanted his truck "to look symmetrical like the other ones". He went home, put one on himself and then came back hollering about how his new truck was "garbage" and "a lemon" and such when it had no power and wouldn't run right. We even told him up front what would happen if you block that opening off completely like that.

My dad drives like an old man, so that shouldn't be a problem, now if I was behind the wheel, that would be a different story.
