ranger rearends

first question is i have a 99 ranger 2wd 4cyl. i'm going to gues it has the ford 7.5inch rearend i just want to make sure though.

second question what is the stock gear ration?

yes it has a 7.5 and basically all 5 spd have 3.73 gears
autos have 4.10 gears

ahh honduras i was counting on you. i was thinking on swaping out the 3.73's for 4.10/11 gearing sicne i plan on getting 18 inch wheels. it would also make hualign alot easier.

my 2 considerationg are going and junk picking a 4.10 out of an automatic or ordering 4.11 gears from yukon

yeah i think picking an axle is easier and cheapier, since u wont have to pay to get the gears installed.

so my best bet would go find an auto and just take maybe the whole rear end?

not all automatics are 4.10's
not all 5 speeds are 3.73's

now i think that you'll only find 4.10's in an automatic, but its not guaranteed to be 4.10's. read through the tech library about door tag codes and axle tags. you'll have to search, probably a lot, to find your 4.10's

and yes, replacing an entire axle is gonna be cheaper and easier than setting up gears. unless you know what you're doing, dont bother even trying.

and mostly all 4 banger 5 spds came with 3.73
at least thats what the 03 brochure said
