I have a 1999 2WD ranger XLT supercab with the 3.0l v6. Its become my semi project truck and theres a lot that i want to get done to it but i want to know whats best. This is more of a cross breed truck between off road and daily driver.
The first is the explorer v8 and 4wd conversion. I want to grab an explorer and take what i need and rebuild them, then put it into the ranger. I've read you can take the explorer's 4wd system out and drop it in as well but is that really the best option? Personally i would like to get some manual transmission like a C5 and put in the best front and rear axles for both DD and some off road. i don't think the dana 44 or what come with the explorer is really best suited for that.
