Ranger Flare side/ step side bed dimension .

I have a 2004 Ranger FX4 extended cab with a step side bed and I was wondering if all the step side/ flare side have the same dimensions and are they mounted the same? Because the outer fenders are plastic or fiberglass I was thinking I might be able to find a bed that isn't rusted in the bottom and put my fenders on the other bed. My question is are the flare side beds the same every year?

They are the same and bolt on like the other short beds. But you still need a flare bed to bolt the fenders on.

yep, a step side bed is the same deal from 1993 to 2011 (heck, they might not even offered a step side in the later years..) the only issue you might have is finding one that is the color you want

Yes, 2004 was the last year Flareside bed was mentioned as an option in the Brochures
Don't see it in the 2005 or 2006 Brochures

First year for flareside was 1994

As said they were all the same 1994 thru 2004, 6ft, on regular cab or extended cab, no difference

The beds all bolted on using the same 6 bed bolts, same spacing along the frame rails, regular or stepside
Later models had 8 bolts but same spacing for original 6 Ford just added 2 more

Must have started in 93. I really don't think the previous owners of mine did a bed swap.

1993 start of the flareside would make more sense because its the start of the next generation, but didn't see it mentioned in 1993 brochure, or just missed

Flareside was an option for any model, except Longbeds

Thanks for the information. That's what I was hoping for because I want to try and change just the bed and put my fenders on , as mentioned it will probably hard to find one that is not rusty.

If its just the bottom of the bed thats rusted out, then find either size bed and cut it out and put it in yours
The wider bed is the same length just wider, so cut off the excess, in front and behind wheel wells

Most Rangers in wrecking yards are front end damaged so beds are usually OK if not rusted out yet
