I have an off road truck, with a bad EGR wondering what problems may arise from removing the EGR that could damage the engine. THIS TRUCK IS OFF ROAD ONLY, will not be driven on the road.
Thanks
Dan

Hell on my street truck i don't have an egr for the simple fact that the tube did not fit when i swapped the manifold for the newer header.

I did not notice anything bad about the egr not being there. Exept for the constant engine light, your fine.

Removing or blocking the EGR could result in pinging. You could run higher octane gasoline to remedy that. You might have to do other modifications to make it run properly because the engine computer is calibrated with the EGR functioning correctly. That, I do not know much about.

My credo
If you can't go through it or around it, then go over it.
your engine will run lean without it. get ahold of a tweecer and turn the EGR off. if its 96 or newer barrow somebodies programmer and turn your EGR off.

If you are just going to use it as a off road truck, it doen't matter if you block off the EGR. The pinging usually comes at part throttle cruise and I guess that isn't where you will be opperating the truck. You will get a check engine light most if not all of the time.

What makes you think your EGR is bad?

Actually it is not a wheeler more of a transporter, so there will be a considerable amount of part throttle cruise. The EGR functions it is the tube that broke, but everthing is to rusty and just broke more the more I messed with it.

Those pipes are pretty fragile and I've been looking for a suitable replacement for mine...anyone have any suggestions on pip type to use? I do have a remarkable bending tool and can flare the pipe myself...just gotta find a way to mate them somehow so it doesn't leak...
