I'd use Rustoleum primer on the bare metal. maybe 2-3 coats,, either spray or brush on. I have same model and yr but mine was 2 tone brown,, rattle canned it with the new Hammered black paint as 1st coat then going to electric spray gun for finish coat. Its cross between flat black and gloss black. call it my Night Rider,,haha.:icon_pepsi: Nice BII!!

Dont use regular primer on that bare metal you need to etch it first or use self etching primer. The the metal etch usually can be had at any home improvement place and the primer at your local parts store.

If you use the metal etch be careful and read the directions, its basicaly acid so you need gloves, eye protection and ventilation.

step1. self-ethcing primer
Step2. regular primer
