is it possible to remove and install pistons on the rods at home with a special tool or do i have to bring it to an engine shop?

They just push out after removing the clips.

Some wrist pins don't just simply come out after a clip is removed. Some are pressed into the rod and that is how they are held in. This requires a press to free them from the rod. Can it be done at home....Yes. To reinstall the wrist pin into the rod you will need to heat the rod end up where the wrist pin passes through. Some even go as far as sticking the wrist pin in the freezer and the pins simply slides in. Then when both the rod and the wrist pins come to room temp they are set with each other.

yea there are no clips holding these together. ive tried to press the pin out of one of the junk rods with a vice but i diddent have any luck. this may give me a reason to buy a press.

to get them out you need to put them in a press with light pressure on just the pin(make sure there is room for the pin to slide down) then, take a torch and heat the top of the rod and apply more pressure, when you get it hot enough you will hear a pop and the pin will start moving, once it starts going pump fast to get the pin to slide out.
it sounds tougher than it is but it is easier with two people. FYI this typically ruins pistons unless they are supported well
