2009 Sport 4x4. I just changed a line on the power steering. Flushed it and refilled it. I topped it off with a universal trans fluid. I bled it. It seems to have a little harkey jerky feel turning.

While it wasn't a ranger, I just did this on a pontiac, only I replaced the whole power steering pump not a line. (It was a recall Item, but after finding the recall online and then 4 different trips to an authorized gm center where they said "doesn't affect your vehicle" every time...... sigh anyhow 30k miles later the pump gave up.).

So anyhow, what I did was removed the old pump, put the new pump on, did NOT hook up the low pressure return line, filled it full of fluid, put the front up in the air, and with the vehicle OFF, A) turned the steering wheel full stop to full stop with the return line pointed into a bucket (higher than the pump so it wouldn't siphon empty), B) add fluid, C) repeat A and B until the fluid in the bucket was completely crystal clear. hooked the return line back up, filled the reservoir to exactly the right level, then applied vacuum to the reservoir to suck any air bubbles that might have snuck in.

I found this procedure on a youtube video. I felt it was the right way to do it afterward, simple, clean, no issues, perfect results.

You didn't ask a question, so I got to ask, did I cover any question you might have had?

The jerking feel comes air pockets in the fluid, I have found that if run the engine at a higher rpm than normal and turn the steering from lock left to right back several times this helps to remove the air pockets, Ford tech have a special cap that they put on the pump that allows to apply a vacuum to resevior which helps to remove the air pockets a little quicker.
