On my '94 3.0L I have a power steering leak right at the pump. It's the adapter that screws in to reservoir on the pump on the high pressure side so the leak is between the reservoir and the adapter.

Can I pull this adapter and put thread tape on it to seal it? Will the trans fluid eat the thread tape? May be you all have a better suggestion to stop the leak?

The leak started when I changed the lines and steering box, just for reference of time line and what happened to make it leak.

That adapter is called the pressure control valve and there are three seals in that location - an O ring that goes around the valve, a plastic seal on the end of the pressure hose fitting, and one around the line itself that you can't see. I assume it's the O ring leaking, pretty easy to replace that. I guess you could put thread tape on it but a properly sealing O ring should be all you need. I have had the other two places leak as well and those basically just require replacement of the pressure line.

The pressure line is new, I have a spare in the parts box but it is leaking right between the reservoir and the pressure control valve.

So the pressure control valve just unscrews and has a O-ring for a seal?
