I 302 swapped my ranger I set the engine as low as possible for various reasons. I'm converting to power steering and the gear box does not fit, and will not without some cutting. My question is if anyone has ever used a bronco power steering box? from the research i've done and the measurements i have it seems as though it will no troubles at all clearance wise but will have to figure a new pitman arm and would be able to eliminate the use of the oil filter relocator as well. If you have swapped your ranger and went from manual to power steering, im intrested in what you think.

Yeah....when doing a big block or cammer it's the easy button. Hard to find.

I used the Chevy 2wd box too.

As far as the research, ive struggled finding dimensions, and really have just been looking at pictures and various videos of where and how they look in an engine bay. The particular models that sparked my thought to go this route was the 66-77 broncos. They mount on the outside of the frame and I actually purchased a 70s f100 gear box, because it seems as though they mount on the inside but im not 100 percent just went out on a limb. My hope is it mounts on the inside of the frame rail and i dont need to change the pitman arm as well as other steering components, they were also cheaper. Im not positive on how well it will work, however it should show up in a couple days and i will be able to upload pictures.

I will go out on a limb and say from your profile, your transplant is in a 88 frame? here are a couple pics of how my set up went in. I am having trouble picturing how a "outside" frame steering box will mount up. as you said pitman arms might be a problem. My frame is welded/boxed in for added support. cheers and interested in how this works out.

There was a Saginaw box forward of that on a dodge 4x4 mount with offset spacers....before I opened up the frame to use the 6.5 diesel radiator.

That is a 70s fullsize bronco/150 box on 2000 f150 factory spacers.

You switch the input from a crown Vic or ranger to make it steer fore or aft. I may go aft to locate further forward when engine upgrade time comes.

The plate is the spreader...a-53 5/16 or 3/8 IIRC...

The spacers are between the plate and box. I just pull them off jellybean 150 fords so I don't have to make them.

For reference....this is my style engine next to a 350.

So big block or 5.4 swaps ect...this is easy.

On a 2wd you can get away with reversing the box and running a modified e series long side and mid sleeve adjuster.

But we ended up all custom at the end. But I did not build the links.
