OK so here's he deal,I have 2 dash cams (one front one rear) wired to a double throw toggle switch. In position 1 the switch powers the cameras on only when the truck is running, position 2 gives them full time power even when the engine is not running so I can keep recording in a parking lot or whatever in case someone backs into me.

On my mom's 2020 edge the power port has a timer that stays on for 10 minutes or so after turning the vehicle off. This is what I want to do for my cameras when on position 1 so I don't have to switch to full time power if I just run in a store real quick.

So... any simple ways to wire say a 10 minute time out for that side of the switch? Have it power on constantly with ignition in run position but wait 10 minutes before shutting power off with ignition in off position? I still want to leave position 2 to run full time no matter what.

@RonD I'm looking at you...

Loads of stuff like that on internet
It would be a relay with timer inside, so that would be the wiring
Plus 1 extra wire as the trigger to start timer, trigger would be Key ON 12v, like radio power wire, so when you turn the key off the timer would start and open the relay after the set time

Wouldn't have to be a "pay extra" supper accurate timer, "about 10min" would be fine for your application

You current 12volt wire for cameras would pass thru the relay, with key on the relay closes and powers cameras full time, while key is on
Key off keeps relay closed for XX time, then relay opens, cameras off and no further power draw

I will look tonight and see what I find

Your 2009 Ranger may already have an accessory delay relay that you could tap into with another simple relay, so use its timer function, like battery saver relay

Only delay times on my truck have to do with the SJB power save crap and good lord you never want to touch that nonsense trust me. The system "wakes up" if you sneeze near it. And if it doesn't sleep it draws enough to royally screw up the battery. I want none of this wiring to be near the computer or it's darn magic elves.

I didn't ask for your life story, just answer the question!
I assume something like this would work for you.
