Anyone swap in an m5od and keep the electronic transfer case? Everything is working as it should, but now I have no 4x4 low. High range works fine, but when I hit the low.range button, it just blinks. Doesn't sound like the control box is even attempting to shift. I'm at my wits end. I am still running the original auto trans ECM. Would that cause the ECM to think the trans is still in "drive" and not allow me to go to 4low?. And yes before anyone recommends a manual tcase, I really want to keep my e shift. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

The computer has to see it in neutral. You need to find the wires for that and splice them together.

My credo
Leave it better than you found it.
Make sure the transmission is in neutral and the brake pedal is depressed. It won't shift in or out of low range if both conditions are not met. Of course, that's if everything else is as it should be.

That's what I was afraid of. I was under the impression that the ECU would revert to default trans setting (neutral), but I guess I was mistaken. Can you point me in the right direction as far as which wires to splice? Electronics isn't my forte :/

Thanks again.

Oh and I should mention that I replaced the auto trans wiring harness with the 5speed harness, so the 7pin NSS switch connector is no longer there... so is there anywhere else I can tie into harness?

Care to enlighten us as to the year of the vehicle in question?

yeah...the year and trans harness type

did you leave the triple function switch a/t jumper in? either way if i remember this on the intermediates there are a wires and b wires on the shift controller, to go to low b1 needs to see ground. its in the starting circuit via the nds on the original auto harness so it should be some variant of red. the brqake wire is light green but i dont remember the shift box looking at that....just vehicle speed and nds. but thats just memory....i fawk that up all the time.

BINGO!! Red/white wire on the trans harness plug. Connected it to a ground, and It works perfect now.

And it's an 89 B2 with the stock 2.9 and an m5od from a 95 explorer. Sorry, I should have mentioned that sooner.

Thanks again for the input. Issue resolved.
