Hey yall, may not be a ranger but i have a 1996 ford explorer sport v6 4.0l and i cant shift into 1st with the shifter on the column but i can shift into every other gear just fine. Just cant access 1st gear and in drive every gear works fine. Also i cant get into 4Lo unless i go into reverse first then once i go back into 2wd the 4x4 and 4lo will flash at me and im stuck in 2wd unless i play with ignition for a lil bit. Any advice im lost

If you don't have time to do it right will you have time to do it over?
Is the shift linkage loose?

Do the same two T40 bolts on the column come loose on the Explorer like they do on the Ranger?

Crossed threads are tight threads.
Put a for sale sign on it. Buy a new used truck with less problems. Life is short.
