planing engine swap new gears needed. advice wanted

planing a engine swap with a engine that puts out 300 lb of torque give or take and im planing on putting bigger tires on it im thinking 35's. i was wondering if my factory 4.10's would still be a good choice or get a higher set or lower set any one know

What engine exactly are you putting in? (and will you be using an overdrive transmission with it?)

its a 5 cylinder benz turbo diesel its like 160 hp 300 give or take foot pounds of torque. and i dont think it is a over drive. ive been looking at the gearing chart and it says that 35's would be rather large for 4.10's but ill be doubling the torque so im kinda iffy on what im gonna do

Hmmm.... Not familiar with that engine.

Do you know what axle ratio and size tires the vehicle it came from uses?
Being a diesel, I suspect your 4.10s may be fine, but I couldn't tell you for sure without more info about it.

the rear end that is in the car it is in is 3.07's. ya im in new territory with this diesel. so u think it would be fine with a diesel or should i go to a 33 inch tire to be safe

What size tires were on it?

only like 205's normal car tire

If its that exact size, then 4.10s would be just about a perfect match with 35" tires.

My 4.0 and 4.10s works very well with 33's so thats a clue that the diesel would pull the 35's pretty well.

it's not only how much torque, but at what rpm your engine makes that torque to determine proper gearing
