I guess I didn't want to believe that it was in there still...in that mangled condition. I worked with what I had lying around - which wasn't much. I ended up getting it out with a combination of packing grease in there with a dowel rod and hammering a chisel into what was left of the bearing. Once I got it out, the new pilot bearing went in smoothly and now my Ranger is up and running again. Thank you all for the ideas - I used a combination of your ideas and it only took me an hour or so. I was very frustrated. I'm sure if I had the right tool it would have made it a lot easier...
