I used a Vintage Air system because my truck was formerly drag raced and the HVAC was missing. Vintage doesn't use outside air, they just recirculate so I blocked the air inlet under the right side of the dash with sheet metal and seam sealer. Vintage Air is in Texas, they couldn't understand why I'd want to draw outside air into my truck. I guess they never had to clear a fogged windshield on a 40 degree rainy day.View attachment 68374
Does that do hot and cold? I'm looking at an auxillary heater that jegs sells I can duct into my existing defrost channel. But it only does heat, which is fine by me. It's less than 200 bucks

Cold as in no heat?
Or cold as in AC?

Cold as in no heat can be done with heater by-pass valve in engine bay, so heater core has no more hot coolant flowing thru it

Some cooling systems don't need flow from one heater hose to the other, so you can just use one valve on one hose to stop flow thru heater core in the cab

BUT..........others NEED the flow from one heater hose to the other as coolant by-pass to/for water pump, in this case you need a by-pass valve that cuts off flow to heater core but maintains flow between the hoses
Rangers used this type, has 4 hose connections not just 2

And you can use either type as a Temp control as well, not just an on/off valve like Rangers used it for
So you can adjust temp of heater core by increasing or decreasing flow thru it

My credo
If you don't have time to do it right will you have time to do it over?

If I had the original ducts I could have hooked them up to my unit. It's called a mini unit and has heat, a/c, and defrost. Though. like I said, the defrost doesn't work great.
