Has anyone else ran into this issue. When I crank my truck she does the warm up almost flawlessly. As soon as I touch the clutch she idles back up to about 2grand. I tap the brake, she idles back down to about 1200. When I start driving it'll act about the same and when going up hill (55mph and up) in 5the gear, she loses momentum quickly, no matter the incline. Down shift back to fourth and she'll start picking back up slightly. It does have a lean code and I've changed everything from emissions to fuel system, and checked for vacuum leaks with no luck. Any help would be highly appreciated.

Unhook your brake booster vacuum line and plug it off. You wont have power brakes but see if symptoms improve. You may of blown a booster

Checked that booster and it nor the hose was bad. Don't know what else it could be. Guess just an old motor. Thank you tho.

Run a compression test/vacuum test. I doubt thats the issue though, but itll put your mind at ease. Honestly 2.9s run literally forever as long as you dont overheat them.

Have you checked for codes?

Yes I have. I keep getting the code for the neutral switch on the trans (FM146) and a lean code. Unfortunately she has been ran hot a few time, I keep having problems with the connectors on my electric fan going out.

Ignore the neutral code...that just means its in gear while youre testing.

Getting a 2.9 hot isnt good...youre not losing antifreeze with no obvious leaks right?

No sir. No oil where it shouldn't be either.

Interesting. Can you test the resistance of your coolant temp sensor and intake air temp sensor? Both cold and warmed up.

Not right now. But I'll be able to test them warm when I get home and then cold in the morning.

This is a non EGR 88+ 2.9 correct? I assumed that by the BII in your avatar. If its a 86/87 with an EGR that could be the culprit.

Ok, so this piece that has the three small vac lines, I changed its location from off the motor to my air box and now she's idling better. And the codes changed to 23 (tps to high or throttle adjusted to high) but she's idling between 700 and 800. I still have the 41 code too, but that's it.
