I'm looking for a replacement PCV valve grommet for my 2003 XLT 4.0 Ranger. Apparently these seem to be hard to find. The PCV valve going into the grommet is threaded as seen in the attached picture so I suppose the grommet needs to be threaded as well. However, i can't find any threaded PCV grommets anywhere. It seems I can find plenty of pcv grommets for the 2.3 and 3.0, but nothing certain for the 4.0. I think I am going to try ordering part # E6TZ-6A892-A which some sites claim will work for my 2003 4.0, but the pictures don't look like it is threaded. My other option is go to a junk yard hoping to find the grommet. Any other suggestions? Thanks.

Don't think there is a factory rubber "Grommet" for this PCVValve;
installs 1/4Turn directly into hole in rear end of plastic left ValveCover, close to the FireWall.
1/4Turn tabs in that plastic ValveCover hole are notorious for breaking if not treated gently or forced in the wrong direction.

Well, I suppose the tabs or threads on valve cover hole might have broken off then. The pcv valve inserts with no resistance and I can turn it endlessly. I also used my phone camera to see if there were any threads on the valve cover hole and looks smooth, threadless. Would the solution be a new valve cover then. Also, the old pcv valve was just floating in the hole, I was a able to pull it out with no resistance.

If you can find a grommet the correct size, might work. Otherwise new valve cover needed.

Thanks for the help. Looks like I will be looking for a new valve cover then. I thought this was going to be an easy fix ha ha.
