P0102 Mass or Volume Air Flow Circuit Low Input
P0104 Mass or Volume Air Flow Circuit Intermittent

These are both "Circuit" codes, so it could be the MAF sensor itself has wiring issue inside, but it can also be wiring harness issue

So have a good look at the MAF connector, unplug it and inspect wiring for frays and connection for corrosion
And follow the wires as best you can looking for damage to the harness

My dad is still chasing his problem. I think he did a smoke test, but not sure. I copied this text from our conversation ---"Hey man, ask your forum buddies about a vacuum leak under the intake manifold. I've got an aluminum one and everything I look at are black plastic. I blew smoke into the intake behind the throttle body, it took a few seconds then the smoke comes billowing out from under the manifold. ?"

Is this enough info???

Must be a 1999 F-150 or 1999 engine they had the aluminum intakes

Seen here:

I would suspect a leak in that lower plastic plenum

If he saw smoke coming out from under the intake then he will need to pull out the intake and see where the hole/crack is

Yea I'd pull it then determine if you just need gaskets or an entire intake. In my experience aluminum intakes dont tend to have issues so I'm betting it just needs a lower intake gasket. Or... theres a vacuum port underneath that you haven't noticed and that's what's leaking.

UPDATE: His troubles started after his truck backfired. He found some plastic bits under his hood when that happened, and the smoke test he did, tells us he has leaks. He is in the process of pulling the intake to see how bad the damage is. Thanks to all for the help and stay tuned for more.

Yes, backfire can certainly take out plastic intake parts, especially when they get older and more brittle

I think people use the word backfire for either

Like Freeze Plug or a Starter Solenoid on the inner fender, you know what they mean even though the terms are not technically correct :)

"back" could mean not forward out the exhaust, so backfired through intake
Or it could mean it fired backwards to back of vehicle

I had to look up the definition of queef. I can see how you might relate that word to the sound coming from an intake....
So coming from the exhaust should be a fart?
