Ok so I boogied over to my pick-n-pull and looked around. They said once i got there that there was no 4.0 manuals on the yard. I had a look and found one ford 4.0l sohc with a manual tranny that someone had somehow mistaken for a transfer case. I know this by the trail of bread crumbs/incorrect placement of parts lol. Anyhow, I wasn't sure if i could even put a 4.0 sohc tranny on a 4.0 ohv engine. I was amazed at how torn apart the rangers and explorers were. Then they closed and kicked my wife and I out. So on our way to the door I found the MAZDA SECTION!!! I found an almost complete, save for the engine(4.0l ohv as far as I can tell), 1994 Mazda B2.....600??? I forget but I do remember that it looked exactly like my truck inside and out, even the color, with a Merzder emblem. So huge long post made short. Can I swap this mazda stuff directly into my Ford? If so there is a huge section, 20+, of mazda trucks that remain untouched for whatever reason. Please let me know as soon as you can cuz I am going first thing to start snatching stuff if so. And thanks for your time guys. You are super helpful. That doesn't sound horrible, there's more you would need to do a swap like the brake/clutch pedal assembly, master cylinder, hydraulic line, flywheel and I believe starter as well as engine computer but you can run with the auto computer with codes... The A4LD and M5OD are the same length so no driveline changes needed and your transfer case will bolt up.
Was this on a Ranger forum or just another forum? I don't think any RBV forum would recommend keeping a A4LD for an offroad build... not that it matters, just curious.
