I've been eyeing up a Ranger for a while now to either purchase and use as a DD, or fix up and sell. As far as specs go for the Ranger it is:

1995 Ranger XL 4x4
198,000 miles on the odometer
Regular cab short bed
2.3L with 5 speed transmission
manual transfer case and hubs
newer 30" x 9.5" tires
has a fiberglass cap and some small dents, but not much rust

KBB has it listed for around $2000 in fair condition, but I am not sure how willing someone would be to pay that if I decided to buy it and "flip it".

Any thoughts/opinions?

I sure wouldn't pay that for it.

I know it's a little messed up but personally, I'd post a fake ad on craigslist or wherever you plan to sell it for the truck before you buy it, at the price you'd want for it, maybe even a little higher and see if anybody bites. Then you can gauge whether to buy it or not based on how many replies you get.

How much is it selling for? Offer $1600 for it see what they say. KBB values are a bit inflated. NADA gives $1800 for average trade in condition. Still is a bit much for a truck that year though.

Yeah, I was thinking about listing it for $1400 or best offer, if I went that route.

Yeah. Try that. It might seem to the person that you are lowballing them, but it never hurts to try.
