Alyssa's dad has a couple Mossberg rifles, they seem alright, nothing wrong with them at all. Probably be getting this one soon, need an excuse to go to the range every so often, haha :icon_twisted:

Yes, the 22 is a fun cheap gun to shoot but I sure dont think I'd even think about anything bigger than a cat to use it on. I just moved my Mini-30 back to the back door yesterday. Had something that must have chased 4-5 deer thru the back yard guessing from the way they were moving. Never know what I'm going to have up here.

Edit: Had to find a picture. Came home from work one day a saw a pile of dirt 50 ft from the back door, it had a hole about 8" wide and 18" deep. Took this picture. Guy at work said, "Don't worry, just a small bear"

Sam Giancana would beg to differ...

Dave, Just too bad you didn't live down there 40-35 years ago. Was a common body dumping ground for people from Chicago. At least it was just mob related then, not the senceless stuff going on now. Tell you some good storys next time we share a "Beverage"

This Mossberg Tactical is based on the 702 Plinkster... I have the plinkster and love it. That being said... a 702 plinkster and a good scope is lots cheaper than the tactical... and from my browsing looks like the tactical mag fits my 702... 25rds!!

btw... my local dealer has it for $221ish...

I knew it was based on the plinkster. But I prefer the tactical just for the rails, I like optics and other various attachments too much to give them up :icon_twisted:

I got a 702 Plinkster off the used rack for like $90... looked brand new.

Stuck a $40 3x9 scope on it with look under rings (seems varmits like to attack at times of the day when scopes are not ideal) and after a little practice at 20 yards I was pretty consistant with shooting caps off of pop bottles. I love the thing.

It wouldn't surpise me a bit the tactical mags would fit the 702 since I just bought two more regular 702 mags.

People have been trying to kill the .22LR for decades but nobody has yet. Stupid cheap to buy, no recoil and very effective on small game.

I looked at the mossberg and it seems really cheesy, the colt was better, but I decided to get the s&w. Stupid accurate, and the only issues I've had was old junky ammo. It's picky on what I likes for ammo but federal and cci shoots the best. Paid $475 and don't regret it at all

I know I've been gone for awhile, working on average 55 hours a week or more, but I heard about this particular rifle and wondered if anyone has/used one and what your opinion of it is? I might get one myself if its even halfway decent, local gun shop quoted me $249.99, seems like a good deal considering comparable S&W's and such are $400+ generally.

you can get the exact same gun without the twat-tastic bullshit on it for 117 at walmart.

edit: and by twat-tastic bullshit, the tactical is literally an AR15 shaped plastic shell on top of the 702 reciever, i've seen inside one, it's not an AR15 AT ALL.

the reason the smith and wesson costs so much is because it's actually an AR15 pattern rifle design scaled down to .22LR, the mossberg, while being a fine firearm, is just a honda civic with a bodykit.
