What would cause my driver rear tire to rub sometimes but not the passenger rear? This is an '87 2wd. I have stock style front and rear sway bars.

I took my first longish road trip since the V8 swap. 165 miles on winding two-lane roads and the tire started to rub pretty good when I'd hustle the truck around. What should I check first? Shocks? Bad leaf spring?

Driver side rub?

I would first check ride height side to side. The driver side carries the lions share of the load.

Is that a 8.8 out of a 96+ exploder? If so they are a lil to wide for the 84-91 bed. My tires rubbed also really bad. So you should roll that fender a lil. my driver side rubs alot worse then the passenger side. but I lowered the truck pretty low.

I still have the narrow 7.5 from a first gen with no lowering of any kind. Still stock suspension. I think I'll roll that lip in though. I can see where it's Black from the tire rubbing. Just seems odd for one side and not the other.

It seems pretty equal. It is the drivers side. I had some tools in the bed at the right rear, plus the wife and battery were on the right side. Just me and the gas tank on the drivers side but for some reason it seemed to get worse as fuel burned off.

Honestly the front was so bouncy I couldn't get a feel for what was going on in the back of the truck. The truck is in no way set up for handling but I couldn't help myself. The truck sits very high in the back and I just can't figure how it could move enough for the tire to rub. I can jump on the rear bumper and it barely moves.

How much do you weigh? Not trying to be rude or funny but f you normally ride single then that side would wear out faster.

I don't think so. It was worst in long, sweeping right hand turns. That's when I could actually hear the tire rubbing. The truck has zero wheel hop when revving it up and dumping the clutch. I did notice today that the rear sway bar has twisted around at its clamps. Even at the outside the pass. side end link is at a 45° angle, where it was when I installed it, but the drivers side link is at 90° to the ground. I'm not sure if that has any effect on anything or how it happened but I might disconnect it just to see.
