Hey there everyone. Been many a year since I logged in here, so just thought I'd drop a line and say hello before posting elsewhere. So, hello!

Long time ranger enthusiast, much to my family's dismay. They're largely Chevy folk. Army vet and full time security officer.

Haven't owned an RBV for quite awhile now, but looking around for a 3rd gen 4.0L with an M5OD attached to it if anyone happens to know of one in the Kansas city area.

It's a pretty rough time to be buying a used truck... everyone thinks they're worth twice what they're really worth. Probably still a decent deal to be had if you just keep looking.

Welcome back to TRS...

Thanks. And I noticed, the vehicle market as a whole has gone berserk. My first ever ranger, bought it for 3 grand in 2004. Would sell for about 7 or 8 grand in the current market. Its kinda nuts.

But I'm really itching to get back into the rbv game.

Patience is key. I bought several Rangers in the past that where in need of repairs to be drivable. It's a little unnerving... but the price is usually way better if you're willing to do the work.

Having grown up an lived in the rust belt... I decided if I were to buy a keeper project RBV... I was going to buy a southern rust free vehicle. I bought a 1986 Bronco II last fall from down south. It had a bunch of work done to it and honestly... I couldn't buy the lift kit and the wheels for what the entire vehicle cost. I did buy it site unseen and had to cough up $1100 to have it shipped here. But I still think it was a good deal and the project is pretty rust free.

I think it's key to have cash on hand and be willing to move quick when you see the right deal... the good deals don't tend to stick around long.

Good luck with your search...

Thanks for the welcome, fellas!

Definitely gonna bide my time, either a good deal will come up or the market will get better. Not sure which'll happen first but hey... guess we'll find out.

Welcome back from the Seattle area. The market for these older Rangers is crazy. I got 'lucky' by responding first to a Craigslist ad. The seller said (believably) that his inbox was flooded with responses to the ad (all coming in after my response). Made it hard to negotiate on price. I'm glad to be a Ranger owner again, but wish the market wasn't so crazy.

You and me both! Market is absolute bonkers as it stands right now. Might take me awhile, but something'll show up that's worth the effort.
