I've had a rough idle, pinging on a cold engine, and worsening gas mileage since I changed my air filter. I checked it out today and found a hose that was supposed to be connected to the intake boot after the MAF had come out. I put it back in and zip tied it to hold it tight. I also went through the MAF cleaning procedure detailed on this site. I put my code reader on and found no codes. Just for the heck of it I pulled the plug on the MAF to see how it would run and I threw a DTC. I cleared the DTC and ever since I can't rev the engine past 3K while in park or neutral. It acts like it bouncing off a rev limiter. If I'm driving it revs normally. However, I just came back from driving it and it started running bad so I pulled over. I couldn't rev the engine past about 1200 rpm without it feeling like it bouncing off a rev limiter. I turned off the engine and cranked it again and now it's back to bouncing at 3K. Any ideas???

So I found out that the truck does have a rev limiter while in park or neutral. All normal there. Any ideas on why it did this while driving?

I guess it just needed to set readiness, it took about 130 miles to set evap. Haven't had any problems since. Looks like my MPG might have improved, will have to run it through the city to be sure.
