Oil filter change on a 3.0. Frustrating.

My credo

My first Ranger was a '99 3.0. I would put the drain pan under the funnel and loosen the filter from the top. I never had an issue but you might want to look at K&N oil filters. They cost more but have a 3/4" nut welded on the bottom so it's easy to get a wrench on it.
